What is a Fixed Lens
It quite simple.
Lenses on cameras that was never intended to be removed and mounted on a modern camera.
Usually they are fom the late 50ies.
Despite not being designed for it, most of the lenses from this pocket in time worked be the same rules as modern lenses.
They have to be sharp. They had to be able to fill out the negative/positive, and they are basically the basis for the lenses we know today.
Best of all.
They are ( the ones we work with ) mostly quite fast ( sub f2 ), and some are actually quite sharp even today.
They have a FFD ( focal Flange Distance ) around 18-20mm.
A few even have a longer FFD, so they can be converted to Leica M, that have an FFD 28,8mm.
Quite a few Kowa’s was ( are ) mounted on houses that looked a bit like very early SLR’s so the FFD on these Kowas are long enough for Leica M, if relevant
My Fixed Lens journey
I have always been fascinated with old and vintage rendering lenses.
It started out with Leica ands Zeiss, and continued via Kowa to Yashica and Konica Hexanon, to mention a few.
